ARTIST STATEMENT:

Ishai Shapira Kalter researches art phenomena and their relations to art practitioners via mechanisms of political power, the dynamics of social order and processes of immigration, gentrification or exploitation. While constructing installations through multi layered narratives his proposals navigate between institutional critique and aesthetic theories. Shapira Kalter seeks to picture the absurdities that rapidly blindfolded the 21st century – Museums as graveyards, metropolises as labor camps, artists as parasites, crises as the end of the world parties and so on. Working across a wide range of media including social interactions, films, essays and installations, his manifestations are often catalyzed by the flops capital have not yet succeeded to bury underneath the ground.
