YARAT Contemporary Art Space is pleased to welcome American artist Mark Jenkins to Baku for his Manimals project, part of Participate! Public Art Festival 2013. In Mark’s workshop, students created a series of projects for the urban environment on the topic of 'animal planet'. The sculptures were created from a special transparent packing tape.

Mark Jenkins (born 1970, in Fairfax, VA, USA) is an American artist, known around the world for street installations created from duct tape. His works have been featured in various publications, including Time Out New York, The Washington Post, and The Independent. One of the world’s most popular blogs dedicated to street art, Woostercollective.com, specially reviewed Mark Jenkins' creations. In addition to the street art interventions, the artist’s works have appeared in galleries in the United States, Europe and Brazil. Jenkins' projects have inspired others to develop 'Scotch culture' all over the world. The artist actively promotes new technology art online and teaches the process of creating ephemeral sculptures during workshops in the cities he visits. He currently lives in Washington, DC, USA.
