23 Nov - 24 Nov 12

90 Countries, 285 Cities, 40,000 viewers – the world’s largest Short Film Festival

Partnership with innovative charity Malaria No More UK

Showcasing the most exciting short films and film-makers from around the world in amazing venues, Future Shorts is continuing to build a massive screening network and powerful community – from Cinema Jenin in Palestine, a palace in Bucharest and hot tubs in London.

From 1st October to 31st December 2012, the Autumn Programme will feature five short films and explore hope and despair in human life in the metropolis. Selected short programming includes: A Brief History of John Baldessari, from the directors of Catfish and narrated by Tom Waits; Rite, nominated for BAFTA Best Short Film and Winner of Sundance’s Short Filmaking Award; The Black Balloon, Winner of Special Jury Mention at Tribeca Film Festival; Café Regular and Auf Der Strecke, winner of over fifty international awards.

Future Shorts is also celebrating the launch of a film collaboration to save lives with Malaria No More UK, an innovative charity working to end suffering and death from malaria. This autumn, film lovers across the UK can host screenings for the charity, creating a new brand opportunity to raise funds and awareness to fight malaria, a preventable disease that claims the life of a child every minute.

Future Cinema, the creators of Future Shorts, Secret Cinema, Secret Screenings, The Other Cinema, Secret Restaurant And Secret Swimming, create large-scale cinematic experiences, fusing feature film with music, theatre and live performance. Malaria No More UK’s partnerships in Africa are helping to protect over ten million people from malaria.

The screenings will be taking place in Park Cinema (4th floor of the Park Boulevard Mall) on November 23rd and 24th, beginning at 19:00 and 21:00.
