FILM CLUB: OGTAY MIRGASIMOV'S STUDENTS FILMS SCREENING

Dear cinephiles!

YARAT Film club has been offering you access to great films and outstanding filmmakers! We are pleased to invite you to attend our special event which will be held on July 19, 2016 with the presence of director, script writer and producer Ogtay Mirgasimov. This time we will screen a unique collection of short films directed by the students of filmmaking department, Azerbaijan State University of Culture and Arts.


We will screen 3 short films by film students:

«As if» (dir. Nazrin Bayramova)

«Verdict» (dir. Karim Azersoy)

«The Sound» (dir. Dairyush Najafli Gol)


Ogtay Mirgasimov was born in Baku in 1943. He studied at the faculty of film directors of Moscow All-Union State Institute of Cinematography during 1963-1968. After graduating Institute of Cinematography, Mr. Mirgasimov returned to Baku and started working at “Azerbaijanfilm” film studio. He has directed more than 50 films, both feature and documentary, including “Sorcerer” (2003), “I start writing my book” (2006), “Good morning, my angel” (2008), “To Die Avanged: Letters from the past” (2014) and etc. His films were screened in several International Film festivals and honored with awards.

Mr. Mirgasimov worked as the Head Director of “Azerkinovideo” from 1993 to 2000. His narratives and stories such as “1001st tour”, “I want to understand”, “Sorcerer”, “This is the voice of truth” and etc. were published in the periodical press. He is the author of tens of feature, documentary and humorous scripts. Ogtay Mirgasimov was awarded the honorary title of People’s artist of Azerbaijan in 2000 for his services in development of national film industry.
