YARAT WEEKLY TALKS: ELENA SOKOLOVA

TALK TO US 

This summer YARAT Contemporary Art Center established the discussion platform in order to discuss its usual collection and current exhibitions. We will organize weekly meetings with artists, writers, musicians, researchers, businessmen and public figures during these series of events.

We will ask famous figures to share their ideas about the modern art and about selected pieces from our collection and to hold dialogues with the event participants as well.

We are pleased to invite you to join the discussion by participation of Yelena Sokolova on 25 September, 2015, Associate Professor of General Psychology at the Department of Psychology in Moscow State University named after M.V.Lomonosov, Candidate of Psychological Sciences, Honoured lecturer of Moscow University.


Sokolova Yelena Yevgenyevna was born in Moscow in 1959. She graduated from full-time department of Psychology at Moscow State University in 1981, full-time PhD degree in 1984, and passed the thesis on the history of German psychology in 1985. She has been working at the department of Psychology in MSU since 1984 until present; has been teaching at the Baku branch of MSU for a few years as well. She was awarded with the Lomonosov prize for her educational work in 2004.

She is an author of more than 200 works, including the original study guide “Thirteen dialogues about psychology” (1st publication was in 1994, the last – 6th – in 2008), the course book “Introduction to Psychology” (3 publications), and etc. 

Specialist in theory, methodology and history of psychology, she is now working on her doctorate thesis on the history of cultural-pragmatist psychology (school of L.S.Vigotsky - A.N. Leontyev).
