YARAT Contemporary Art Space invites you to meet and talk with young artist Fidan Kim.
Fidan Kim (b. 1997, Baku) is a 4th grade student of Azerbaijan State Academy of Fine arts. Also she is a member of Youth section of the Artist`s Union. She has participated in many exhibitions in the country and abroad. Participation at the Shopping festival Carrousel du Louvre Art in Paris, an art exhibition “Live Life” in Moscow and Tbilisi by organization Idea, 6th International Maiden Tower Festival, an event “50 days to go to Baku” within the frames of the First European Games, many projects of the organization Arts council, exhibitions and festivals organized by Old City, UNESCO and Heydar Aliyev Foundation. She took part in numerous courses In Italy, Great Britain, Georgia and USA. She held two solo exhibitions in 2013 and 2014 in Center of Modern art gallery, Last day of childhood and Paradoxes.
The curator and the participant of the exhibition “Art Rising”, at the National Museum of art. She also painted on ceramics and glass. Illustrated books in the United States. From early childhood, she visited studios of different artists and traveled to different countries doing courses and participating in exhibition. Most of all she liked doing sketches on paper using black ink. Thus she began a series of graphic works titled "secrets", each work included many characters, storylines and ideas. Next she began to carry this idea on a canvas combining graphics, Orientalism and Surrealism. She uses ornaments and miniatures very often. A large role in her paintings play dreams. So far the most successful works of her she saw in her dreams, and when she woke up she turned them into paintings.
