YARAT Contemporary Art Space invites you to the the lecture called “Feminist Archeology (Women in the Primitive-Community Structure)” by head of the experimental archeology laboratory, archaeologist Ajdar Babazade, in the frame of “Pink-Black” exhibition currently ongoing at the Museum of Azerbaijani Painting of the XX-XXI Centuries.
During the event, on the basis of Venus figurines from the Paleolithic and Neolithic periods displayed in the exhibition, the role of women in ancient times, motherhood, and the semantics of gods and goddesses will be discussed. Also, the place of Venus figurines in history, what the scientific discussions on this topic are, and hypotheses and paradigms will be analyzed.
Ajdar Babazade started scientific activity at ANAS Institute of Archaeology, Ethnography and Anthropology in 2018, and in 2022 he created his experimental archeology laboratory. He is the author of many scientific articles. He gave lectures in Azerbaijan, as well as in Japan and Turkey, and participated in the processes of archaeological excavation and research, and field research.
