Open Call for YARAT Residency-2021

Residency Period: 1st of January until 30th of June 2021

Application deadline: 20th of December, 2020

Final Results: 25th of December, 2020

YARAT Contemporary Art Space invites artists to apply for the residency program 2021. The program will take place from 1st of January until 30th of June, 2021.

YARAT Residency is open for artists who are engaged in open, research-based practice across disciplines and show an interest in discussing relevant topics of the Caucasus region. The program engages residents in discussions with fellow artists and ARTIMLab participants. Resulting artworks will be featured in a Solo Show at ARTIM Project Space, Baku by the end of the residency period.

YARAT Residency offers:

- Studio space in Icheri Sheher

- Meetings with YARAT curators

- Final Show at ARTIM Project Space

The residency will cover the following:

- All expenses of the Studio Space in Icheri Sheher

- Production support up to 2000 AZN (including local tax)

YARAT Residency Rules and Regulations:

- Each artist should produce a body of new works by the completion of residency period.

- The artist should proactively engage within the program of ARTIM Lab through giving workshops, lectures or becoming a mentor for the participants.

- The artist should proactively engage within the education program of YARAT Academy through giving workshops, interactive lectures to the audience according to the fall/spring sessions’ topic of the program.

- Images of created art work can be used by YARAT in all forms of reproduction (including catalogues, presentations and booklets) and can be used for advertising and informational materials (such as flyers and posters).

- Residents should work on-site in studio provided by YARAT

- Residents should report, through an email or other media, on the creative production progress

- By the completion of residency program all created art pieces belong to the artist.

Application Process

Please send the following documents by 20th of December 2020, to residencies@yarat.az.

  • CV (including contacts: email address and phone number)
  • Portfolio
  • Letter of intent describing the research topic, concept, sketches or visual material for the solo exhibition
  • Scan of your ID

Please note that only artists, who are Azerbaijani citizens or have a permanent residency permission in Azerbaijan are eligible to apply.

Only artists will be considered who have not been yet granted with a residency at YARAT before.
