On 6th May 2014 the Museum of Modern Art in Baku will open a solo exhibition of Azerbaijani artist Chingiz Babayev, sculptor, designer, theorist, poet and philosopher. In general the artist's work is greatly influenced by philosophical and theoretical research in conceptual art of modern culture. The exhibition will feature approximately twenty new works in various techniques and styles. 

Chingiz graduated with honours from Azim Azimzadeh Azerbaijan State Art College and the Azerbaijan State Institute of Arts, which is named after Mirza Aga Aliyev. Since 1986 he has participated in several international cultural events such as exhibitions, symposiums, biennials, conferences and others. As a student, he studied classical sculpture and painting extensively and has explored the possibility of implementing different ideas by using a variety of materials and techniques such as collage, street art, installations, short performance, action and video art and other. 

He is the founder and director of ARTS etc., a centre of contemporary culture in Baku. 
In 1997, Chingiz was invited to work in the famous Wax Museum The Madame Tussauds in London.
In 2007, Chingiz contributed work in the first time that Azerbaijan participated in the International Exhibition Venice Biennale, presenting project Omnia Mea.

The artist's works have been exhibited in the following countries: Azerbaijan, Russia, Ukraine, Estonia, Vietnam, USA, Austria, Italy, France, UK, Poland, Finland, Norway, Switzerland, Dominican Republic.


The exhibition will last until 31st May.
