90 Countries, 300 Cities, 6 Continents, 1,400 Screenings – the world's largest short film festival comes to Baku.

Future Cinema, the creators of Future Shorts and Secret Cinema, have announced the Future Shorts Festival Summer Season beginning from 29th July. In ten years of showcasing electrifying short films and film-makers from around the world in stunning venues, Future Shorts have built the world’s largest community for short film fans – from Finland to Mexico, via Mongolia and Kazakhstan. The film festival allows anyone, anywhere to run a film festival and be part of a global community.

The programme for ths edition includes six critically acclaimed short films sourced from around the world:

  1. Boneshaker (USA; 2012) by Frances Bodomo – a portrait of the struggles of an African family lost in America.
  2. La Huida (Spain; 2011) by Victor Carrey: an award-winning narrative puzzle, and the deconstruction of an event from a variety of prismatic viewpoints.
  3. The Pirate of Love (Iceland; 2013) by Sara Gunnarsdottir, an animated feature about the outsider musician Daniel C.
  4. The Hidden Smile (Spain; 2011) by Venture Durall which constructs a realistic tale on the values that flourish in a society formed by children.
  5. Irish Folk Furniture (Ireland; 2012) by Tony Donoghue, an animated documentary about traditional Irish furniture and winner at Sundance 2013 for Best Animation short film.
  6. Volume (UK; 2012) by Mahalia Belo, about the mysterious disappearance of Georgina, from the perspective of her neighbour Sam.
