Review of BACARART 2012

20 Nov 12

Initially designed and implemented thanks to the joint effort of YARAT Contemporary Art Space and the State Committee for the Affairs of Families, Women and Children, BACARART Project report exhibition was held on 20th November at the Kempinsky Badamdar Hotel. Gifted children from disadvantaged and low-income families across the country were involved as project participants. For several weeks professional artists and skilled photographers taught the children about the fundamentals of drawing, photography and collage. Their noble and dedicated efforts resulted in newly-prepared art pieces, which were later displayed at the final exhibition of the project.

All young project participants were given creative prizes such as colourful drawing sets and photo cameras. Domestic art celebrities such as Tahir Salakhov, an eminent Azerbaijani artist and the vice-president of the Academy of Arts of Russia and  Omar Eldarov, Chancellor of the Azerbaijan Academy of Arts, as well as some other outstanding figures, came in especially to support emerging talents.

The exhibition attendants were given the opportunity to purchase the pieces they liked the most, contributing thereby to the further development of the young artists. The funds raised thanks to artwork sales were transferred to the State Committee for the Affairs of Families, Women and Children. It is expected that the contributions will be used for supporting the families of emerging talents.

Based on the initiative so far and keeping in mind the benefits the project might bring in terms of self-recognition and self-confidence of the children, the project organisers cherish their hope for further increasing the capabilities of the young artists.
