Launch of BACARART PROJECT 2014

01 May - 23 Nov 14

YARAT Contemporary Art Space and the State Committee for the Problems of Families, Women and Children will soon be launching their annual collaborative project BACARART that helps to uncover and develop creativity in children from disadvantaged families.

This year the project will be divided into three phases:

Phase 1:
Ten regions (including Sabirabad, Hacigabul, Zardab, Zakatala, Imishli, Gabala, Goranboy, and Agdam) will be covered in the first stage of the project. Six professional artists and photographers will travel across the country and deliver week-long workshops to a group of 50 children. Studio work and professional guidance should help kids to discover their inner creativity and strengthen their capacity to express themselves through art. Works produced will later be collected by the State Committee for the Problems of Family, Women and Children and kept in storage.

Phase 2:
The second stage of the project will take place in July 2014 when the all project participants will reunite again for the summer school programme. This summer session will be hosted in one of the regions of Zakatala, Guba, Nabran or Shaki. The children will learn the basics of composition, drawing and photography from emerging artists Ramal Kazimov, Vusal Rahim, Sitara Ibrahimova and and Reza Hazare.

Phase 3:
All art pieces produced in the course of this project will be featured in a final exhibition. A charity auction will be organised to help raise money for the continued development of these young artists.
