Duration of the workshop is 5 days. On the last day of the workshop, December 9th, the results will be presented at the project space to public.

The Workshop “Paper and Parametric Modeling” investigates in a new concept using an ancient technique of the Japanese Origami with new Digital tools of parametric design (modeling). The main goal of this Workshop is to reveal the potential of the art of folding paper with parametric modeling as a new and powerful tool by stimulating ideas in the process of conceptualization in their aesthetic and functional dimensions. Especially in the fields of Design, Architecture, Structural Design and Art.

The workshop provides the opportunity to learn the basics of paper folding, throughout a systematic process of increasing complexity and as modules, which can be attached in order to form more and more complex structures. The participants will explore the aesthetics and physical properties gain by the paper as we apply memory through the folding process while creating analogies to Architecutre and Design. Common paper will be used as a conceptual tool, in order to conceive a final object or special structure based on the Origami Techniques that will be previously learned.
