YARAT Contemporary Art Space Film Club is delighted to invite you to the screening of feature films by Richard E. Robbins 13 October 2015.

A groundbreaking film, directed by Academy Award nominee Richard Robbins, Girl Rising tells the stories of 9 extraordinary girls from 9 countries, written by 9 celebrated writers and narrated by 9 renowned actresses. The girls faced arranged marriages, child slavery, and other heartbreaking injustices and despite these obstacles, these brave girls offer a story of hope and inspiration. It’s a beautiful story which showcases the strength of the human spirit and a great illustration of the power education has to change the world. 

Richard E. Robbins is an American filmmaker and documentary maker, who has produced and directed several documentaries for ABC and PBS. The most notable is Operation Homecoming: Writing the Wartime Experience, which puts forward the perspective of American troops returning home from service in Iraq. In January 2008, Robbins received an Academy Award nomination for the film as well as two Emmy nominations, and nominations from the International Documentary Association and the Directors Guild of America. He is also a noted producer, having produced several series for Peter Jennings Reporting.

The screening is organized in collaboration with the Embassy of United States of America.
