YARAT Contemporary Art Space are pleased to invite you to a next meeting of the Film Club which has already turned into an informal meeting point for discussion of contemporary cinematograph. We invite you to watch belgian short films by young directors 8 November 2015.

HART/COEUR (15:00 min).

HART/COEUR is a short film that tells the story of two young women spending a night out in the small town of Kortrijk. This night will take them to different places, random conversations, and a confrontation with a man who has a dark secret.

The film title HART/COEUR is the word "Heart" in Dutch and French.

This short film aims to explore the themes of Love, violence, psychedelica and punk rock.

Combining this with a search for anochronistic and visual psychedelic ways of using narrative storytelling. Utilizing a D.i.Y attitude HART/COEUR was shot mainly with volunteers and first time actors on a budget of only 3500 euro.


BETWEEN FOUR WALLS (20 min.)

Thomas, a Flemish borderline bohemien, gets the Algerian mother Zahra to taste the forbidden fruit of betrayal. In his small studio, the two lovers create a shadow paradise where they explore the boundaries of seduction, confusion and boredom.

We are glad to inform you that Between Four Walls has been selected for the Biennial Edition of CinéWomen, our special issue featuring independent filmmakers and videoartists. We have been really impressed with your film, and we appreciate the way you capture subtle, unconscious emotional reactions, as well as your refined 16mm black and white cinematography and sapient use of hand-held camera reminding us of Philippe Garrel's early work.
