THE MATRYOSHKA MODEL AND OTHER CURATORIAL PROJECTS

In her own words: "A talk about how I relate the structure of a Russian Matryoshka doll to how I think about the act of curating, using the structure of layering, stacking and embedding as a metaphor for some of my ideas. The lecture will essentially discuss my entire career in curating to date and chart the development of my curatorial ideas using this model. Then I will move on, more specifically, to how ‘Isolation Room/Gallery Kit’ will function as a project."

REVENGE 101 LECTURE

In this one hour class, art history and curatorial studies are analysed through a ‘revenge’ themed exhibition and a video projection organised in the spirit of a tele-course lecture. The course lecture articulates a text written by one of the accusers of the Wikileaks founder Julian Assange. The presentation in the video explores the theme of crime, vengeance and vandalism through images from popular culture, art history, cinema, and memorable moments in photojournalism, all depicting both famous and infamous acts of revenge and aggression against works of art. This combination plays with the ideas of themed research, convoluted art lectures, ambitious curatorial endeavours, and exhibition design in a humorous and uncanny way.
