YARAT Contemporary Art Space is happy to inform you that prominent British director Tim Supple will give a talk and screen videos of his work at 19:00 on 10th November at the International Mugham Centre.

Tim Supple  has directed, adapted and devised theatre throughout the UK and in the US, Europe, India, North Africa, South America and the Middle and Far East. He has worked regularly at The National Theatre and The Royal Shakespeare Company.

In the 1990s he was Artistic Director of the Young Vic Theatre in London. Tim’s work includes Shakespeare’s Coriolanus, A Comedy of Errors, As You Like It and Twelfth Night (also on film); Dario Fo’s Accidental Death of an Anarchist; Carol Ann Duffy's Grimm Tales and More Grimm Tales; Kipling's The Jungle Book; Lorca’s Blood Wedding; Wedekind’s Spring Awakening; Ted Hughes’ Tales From Ovid; Goldoni’s A Servant to Two Masters; Salman Rushdie’s Haroun and the Sea of Stories and Midnight’s Children and Mozart’s The Magic Flute.

Tim launched Dash Arts with Josephine Burton in 2005 to create new performance in collaboration with artists from abroad. In 2006 he created a multi-lingual A Midsummer Night’s Dream in India: an international success known widely as The Indian Dream, the production subsequently completed two tours of India, extensive tours of the UK, Australia and North America, two seasons at Stratford-upon-Avon and a season at the Roundhouse in London. In 2011 Tim created a new theatrical adaptation of One Thousand and One Nights with the celebrated Lebanese author Hanan al Shaykh.

The production was developed over two years of research and rehearsal in North Africa and the Middle East with a cast and creative team drawn entirely from the Arabic speaking world. Performed in three languages over six hours, One Thousand and One Nights had its European premier at Edinburgh International Festival in August. It will play in London, on tour in the UK and internationally in 2013/4.
