WEEKLY TALK: RAMIZ FATALIYEV

For more than one year YARAT Contemporary Art Space provids a platform for series of talks featuring artists, writers, musicians, researchers, entrepreneurs and other public figures who were asked to share their opinion and express their thoughts about contemporary art and specific works from the collection and engage with the audience.
Last summer due to serious reasons we had to cancel a talk by famous scriptwriter and director Ramiz Fataliyev. We are happy to announce that, this much-anticipated talk will happen next Thursday – November 24th. Come and join to what is going to be an engaging discussion!
We will ask public figures to share their opinions and express their thoughts about contemporary art and specific works from the collection and engage with the audience.
Ramiz Fataliyev is a film director and scriptwriter who graduated from VGIK (Russian State School of Cinematography) and wrote more than 40 feature films including “Family business” (dir. Nikolai Maletski), “Without witnesses” (Nikita Mikhalkoff), “I loved you more than life” (dir. Rasim Ismailov), “An Umbrella for the Newlyweds” (dir. Rodion Nakhopetov), “The Scoundrel” (dir. Vagif Mustafayev) and others.
Ramiz Fataliyev directed two television series – “The truth of the moment” (2003, produced by “Servan Co., Azerbaijan) and “Count Krestovsky” (2004, produced by NTV, Russia) as well as a full length feature film “The Sovereign’s Destiny” (2007, commissioned by the Ministry of Culture of Azerbaijan Republic). Ramiz Fataliyev started working for “AzerbaijanFilm” Studio as an editor in chief in 1986, but only to be appointed to the position of the director a year later. He remained the head of the studio until his resignation in 1995.
In 1990, he was elected as a member of the State Parliament and throughout his political career he led the ad hoc investigation Committee on Khodjali massacre and permanent parliamentary committee on human rights and interracial relations.
During the two year period he lived in Moscow, Ramiz Fataliyev wrote a number of feature films and television series including “The Russian Five’’ – a project commissioned by the Vitali Fetisov, the Head of the State Committee on Sports and Physical Culture of Russian Federation.
